Why is there a Whop charge on my card?

Updated

What the charge is

A charge from Whop means something was bought through Whop, which collects payment on behalf of thousands of independent sellers. The seller could be a trading group, a fitness coach, a course or a downloadable file. Whop appears on the statement instead of the seller, which is why the name looks unfamiliar.

It is not a subscription to Whop itself. Whop is the checkout, not the shop.

Find out what was bought

Sign in to Whop using the email address the receipt went to, then open your purchases or orders. Every payment is listed with the seller name, the date and whether it renews.

No receipt in your inbox? Search your mail for "Whop" and check the spam folder. If nothing turns up, the payment may have been made with another email address — a partner, a family member, or an older account of your own.

If it renews every month

Many Whop products are memberships, so the charge repeats until it is cancelled. In your purchases list, open the membership and cancel it there. Cancelling stops the next payment; it does not undo the one already taken.

You normally keep access until the period you paid for runs out.

If you do not recognise it at all

Check with anybody who uses your card before treating it as fraud. A teenager buying into a Discord group is a far more common explanation than a stolen card.

If it really is not yours, contact Whop support through its own help pages and tell your bank. Whop can trace a payment from the last four digits of the card and the exact amount and date.

FAQ

Questions, answered straight.

What is Whop.com on my bank statement?
It is the payment platform that processed a purchase from an independent seller. The seller decides what was sold; Whop only collects the money and delivers access.
Will the charge happen again next month?
Only if what you bought renews. Sign in with the email you paid with and open the purchase. It states whether it is a subscription and when it bills again.
Can I get a refund on a Whop charge?
Refunds are decided by the seller who sold the product, not by Whop. Message the seller first. If they promised a refund and then refuse, raise it with Whop support and, failing that, your bank.
Why do I have two Whop charges?
Usually two separate products, or a membership that renewed while you also bought something one-off. Your purchases list shows each one with its own seller and date.
Is a Whop charge a scam?
Not by itself. Whop is a real payment platform used by many legitimate sellers. An unrecognised charge is more often a household member or a forgotten renewal than fraud, but check with your bank if neither fits.

Sell it inside your Whop.
