What is Whop?

The short answer
Whop is an online platform where people sell access to digital things: private communities, courses, group chats, software tools and downloadable files. A seller builds a page, sets a price, and shares the link. Whop takes the payment, lets the buyer in straight away, and keeps track of who has paid.
Think of it as a shop, a members area and a checkout in one. The seller writes no code. The buyer never leaves the page they clicked.
What people actually sell there
The most common thing is a paid community — a Discord server or a chat group you only get into after you pay. Trading groups, fitness coaching and marketing groups all use it this way.
Sellers also use it for courses, one-off digital files, software tools, and monthly memberships. Many sellers run more than one of these under the same community.
How the pieces fit together
A "company" on Whop is what you would call a community. Inside it you add "apps", which are the features your members see — a chat, a course, a store, a forum.
Because apps are separate pieces, a seller can start with just a chat and add a shop later without rebuilding anything. MKKT is one of those apps: it adds a digital product store to a community.
Is it for you?
Whop makes the most sense if you already talk to a group of people somewhere — a Discord, a Telegram, a big comment section — and you want to charge for something.
If you have no group and just want to sell one file to strangers off social media, a plain storefront is simpler. You can still use Whop for that, but you will not be using most of it.
