What is a Whop app?
Updated
An app is a feature you bolt on
A Whop app is one feature you add to a community: a chat room, a course, a forum, a leaderboard, a store. A community starts empty, and apps are the parts that fill it. You install one in a couple of clicks and it shows up as a tab your members can open.
You can install several, and you can remove one without losing the rest. Each app does a single job and stays out of the way of the others.
Where apps come from
Some are built by Whop itself. Others are built by outside developers and listed in the Whop app store, the same way a phone app store works.
Installing takes a couple of clicks. You pick the community you want it in, confirm, and it is there.
What apps cost
Many are free. Others charge the community owner a monthly fee, or take a small share of the sales they handle.
Whop shows you the price before you confirm the install, so you are never charged for something you did not agree to.
An example
MKKT is a Whop app for selling downloadable files. Install it and your community gets a store: you add an ebook, a PDF or a template, set a price, and members buy it without leaving the community.
That is the general shape. Each app does one job and stays out of the way of the others.
