How do I create a digital product to sell?
Updated
Write the promise first
To create a digital product, write the promise first: "After using this, you will be able to ___." Then build the smallest version that keeps that promise, using tools you already know. Stop when somebody who is not you can use it without asking a question. Everything else is decoration.
If you cannot finish that sentence, the product is not ready to be built.
Build the smallest version that keeps the promise
Cut everything that does not serve the sentence. Extra chapters, extra tabs, extra bonuses — they add time and confuse the buyer.
A tight product is faster to finish and easier to sell.
Use tools you already know
A document, a spreadsheet, a design tool, a screen recorder. There is no special software needed for a first product.
Time spent learning a new tool is time not spent finishing.
Know when to stop
It is ready when somebody who is not you can use it without asking you a question.
Give it to one person before you publish. Their first question is the thing you forgot to explain.
