The short answer
Yes, you can use Whop for free. Making an account, browsing the marketplace, creating a community and building a product page all cost nothing up front. Whop starts charging when you make a sale, by taking a cut of it. Buyers pay nothing to Whop either, only whatever the seller charges.
Free as a buyer
An account costs nothing and there is no membership fee to browse. Some communities on Whop are free to join and always will be.
The only money you spend is on a product you choose to buy. Watch for anything that renews monthly, because that is the charge people forget about.
Free as a seller, up to a point
You can build the whole thing without paying: the community, the pages, the products, the free chat. Nothing is billed while nothing sells.
Two things cost money later. Whop takes a share of each sale, and any app you install may charge its own fee, either monthly or per sale. Whop shows an app’s price before you confirm the install, so nothing is charged by surprise.
Why free-until-you-sell matters
A flat monthly platform fee has to be paid in the months you sell nothing, which is most early months for most people. A per-sale cut cannot bankrupt a launch that flops.
Work out the crossover for your own volume. Above a certain monthly revenue a subscription platform becomes cheaper, and that is the point at which the comparison changes.
