FAQ

Questions, answered straight.

Is Etsy or Gumroad better for digital products?
Etsy is better when you have no audience, because buyers browse Etsy and find you. Gumroad is better when you already have followers or a newsletter, because it is simpler and you own the customer. Many sellers start on Etsy and add a storefront once they have a list.
Is Shopify or Etsy better for digital products?
Etsy is better for a first product with no audience: it brings buyers and takes minutes to set up. Shopify is better for a brand with its own domain, physical products and traffic of its own. Shopify costs more to run and takes longer to set up, but you own everything.
Is Whop good for selling courses?
Yes, if your students are in a community. Whop hosts courses natively and puts the course, the chat and the paywall in one place. If you have no community and just want lessons with progress tracking, a dedicated course platform gives you more teaching tools.
Can I sell digital products on more than one platform?
Yes, and many sellers do. A common setup is a marketplace for discovery and your own store for your audience. Keep one place as the canonical product page, and make sure each platform allows the licence you are selling under.
