How much does Etsy charge to sell digital products?
Updated
There are several fees, not one
Etsy charges in four places, not one: a listing fee when you publish and again when it renews, a transaction fee on each sale, payment processing on top, and an advertising fee when the sale came from its off-site ads. Each is small; stacked, they take a real bite.
They hurt most on cheap items, which is what most digital listings are.
Why we do not print the rates
Etsy changes them, and an out-of-date number is worse than none. Etsy’s own fees page is the only reliable source.
What is stable is the shape: several stacked fees rather than a single cut. What is also stable is the Creativity Standards, which require the design to be yours or made under your creative direction and any AI use to be disclosed in the listing — a deactivated listing earns nothing whatever the fees are.
Work out your own take-home
Take your price. Subtract each fee in turn. Look at what is left on a single cheap item.
Low-priced digital items are where stacked fees hurt most. Bundling three items into one higher-priced listing often nets more.
Compare it to the alternative honestly
A storefront takes less per sale but sends you no shoppers. Etsy takes more and does.
If your sales come from your own posts rather than Etsy search, you are paying for traffic you brought yourself.
