Do digital products still sell?
Updated
They sell, and the bar has moved
Yes. People buy templates, guides, presets and courses every day. What changed is that generic versions of all of them are now free and easy to find, so broad and average no longer sells. Specific, tested and genuinely useful still does, and often at a higher price than before.
The easy version of this business is over. The narrow version is healthier than ever.
What AI changed
Anything an assistant can produce in thirty seconds is now hard to charge for. Generic advice is in that bucket.
What is not: your judgement, your real numbers, tested systems, and things built for a niche too small for anybody to bother generating.
Crowded is not the same as dead
A niche full of competitors is a niche with proven buyers. A niche with nobody selling anything is usually a niche with nobody buying.
Look for crowded markets where every existing product is vague. That gap is common and easy to fill.
What to do about it
Narrow the audience, raise the specificity, and show proof. The price can go up as those improve.
Do not compete on being cheaper. That race has no end.
